Biography

Emma Chong Ai Chzer 张爱慈, known as Emma, is a Singaporean artist and illustrator whose practice explores themes of lived experience, womanhood, and the body. The narratives within her work often reflect shared stories and the intangible essences of womanhood. Through a laborious process that spans drawing, painting, printmaking, and occasionally domestic handicrafts such as sewing and weaving, she investigates the body as an instrument—a repository of songs and stories, bearing both beauty and scars. Art-making becomes, for Emma, a vital conduit for navigating emotions, confronting vulnerability, and exploring the nuances of intimate experience.

In 2016, Emma founded her creative business, Studio Luna (@lunabyemma), where she offers custom illustration and creative services. Her projects range from private commissions and corporate events to social media content creation. Emma’s intricate style and meticulous attention to detail have attracted numerous international luxury brands and companies. She has collaborated with renowned names such as Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Bulgari, Burberry Beauty, Estée Lauder Companies, Christian Louboutin Beauty, Victoria’s Secret, The Sheraton Towers Hotel, and Design Intervention, attesting to the caliber of her artistic practice. Beyond client work, Emma shares her creative insights through nature-led workshops, fostering a community of fellow art enthusiasts.

Emma is currently pursuing her BA (Hons) in Fine Arts at LASALLE College of the Arts (Goldsmiths, University of London) and is expected to graduate in April 2026.
